The objective of the Association is to be considered as the voice of the health insurance & wellbeing industry, as the go-to place for commentary and advice on health insurance, protection and related wellbeing matters for Intermediaries and Providers of Healthcare services.

Established in 1998, originally as a trade association for independent medical insurance advisers, AMII now has more than 120 Intermediary and Insurer members advising on private medical insurance, health cash plans, group risk and protection products and general health and wellbeing matters including occupational health services and employee assistance programmes. AMII promotes and maintains high standards of professional and ethical conduct among its members in order to inspire the confidence of the consumer, no matter whether they be individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises or corporate buyers of health, wellbeing and risk services.

The Association considers parliamentary and regulatory lobbying as part of its remit acting in the interests of consumers, intermediaries and insurers.

Through the activity of the Executive Chair, Executive Committee and General Secretary we work with numerous industry bodies, advising those making policy decisions which relate to our industry. including: Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Association of British Insurers (ABI), Association of International Medical Insurance Providers (AIMIP), British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA), Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), Group Risk Industry Development (GRiD), Protect Association.

AMII is committed to raising professional standards across the industry by qualification and has previously contributed towards the CII Cert CII and Dip CII programmes as an industry recognised training and qualification for specialist health insurance intermediaries and Insurers.

However, in the event they require more detailed support this can be provided by Branko Limited at an additional cost. More information on the services offered by Branko Limited can be found at www.branko.org.uk

Events - We normally run two formal conference events each year – our Conference & AGM is normally held in the Spring with our flagship Health & Wellbeing Summit being held in the Autumn. These are usually one day events including topical presentations and features in relation to the latest events on emerging healthcare matters delivered by industry and commercial expert speakers.

In addition, we run regular Education events in support of members in relation to a number of differing subjects including An Introduction to Healthcare designed to support those who are new or have joined the industry over the last six months.

These events are an excellent opportunity for members to network with like-minded Intermediaries as well as the chance to discuss latest industry issues with our Provider partners. Most of these events are free of charge to members or are heavily subsidised.

AMII website - We are regularly contacted by consumers and businesses for advice. Whilst we do not consider the Association to be a lead generation organisation, Intermediary Member firms are able to include personalised information regarding their firm in the "Find-An-Expert" and "Ask-An-Expert" search features of the AMII website, potentially generating sales leads for your business.

If your firm joins after 1st November in any year then your first ‘annual’ membership fee payment will be reduced by 50%, to reflect the shorter period of membership until the subsequent 1st April renewal date.
