The Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries (AMII) is changing its name to The Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries. The name change was ratified by a vote at AMII’s Autumn Conference on 12 November 2013.
Brian Walters, vice-chair of AMII said: “It is important to acknowledge that insurers are now as much a part of the Association as intermediaries, although the promotion of independent advice will remain central to AMII’s ethos. The name change is an important step in AMII becoming the voice of the health insurance industry as a whole. It’s a minor change that retains the well-known acronym and avoids the need for an expensive re-brand.”
AMII members also voted to extend the term of office for the Chair and Vice-Chair to a maximum of four years, subject to annual re-election by the membership after the first two years.
Brian Walters added: “It’s important that AMII maintains its momentum and, to this end, the Executive Committee would like to see Wayne Pontin offer himself for re-election in March 2014.”
