It is part of long-established independent insurance brokers, the UKGlobal Broking Group, which provides a wide range of insurance broking solutions to companies, individuals and affinity partners.

Following significant investment in 2016, the Group expanded its team and branch network with Carl Eaves brought in to head up a dedicated private healthcare arm. In 2020 Tom Burfitt joined as joint Managing Director.

Carl Eaves, Joint Managing Director said: “As one of the UK’s fastest growing independent brokers we wanted to join AMII as a well-established and respected trade body in the medical insurance world.

“We have been particularly impressed with the way AMII has responded to the current Coronavirus crisis – which has presented both significant challenges and opportunities for the private medical insurance sector.

“It is certainly the case that it is a sector that needs to respond and adapt to meet the needs of its clients in what is a rapidly changing healthcare landscape.”

AMII aims to be the voice of the health insurance and wellbeing industry, as the go-to place for commentary and advice on health insurance, protection and related wellbeing matters for Intermediaries and Providers of healthcare services.

AMII membership benefits include participation at national conferences, technical regulatory compliance support, parliamentary and regulatory lobbying, Preferential Professional Indemnity Insurance cover, online technical advice and professional support, an education events programme and opportunities to network with industry colleagues.

During the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown period in the UK, AMII has also provided and issued regular guidance for its members. It has taken steps to support insurers and intermediaries through the crisis, including co-hosting a series of virtual seminars with industry experts.

Stuart Scullion, AMII Chairman, said: “We’re delighted to have UKGlobal Healthcare Solutions on board as our newest member. With three new members in as many months, especially during this unprecedented period, it’s a strong endorsement of our positioning as the voice of the health insurance and wellbeing industry.

“Although we have not been able to deliver the face-to-face conferences and meetings, we have supported our members digitally with advice, updates and opinion I am proud of the way the industry has really stepped up to the plate during this pandemic.”

Established in 1998, originally as a trade association for independent medical insurance advisers, AMII now has more than 120 Intermediary and Insurer members advising on private medical insurance, health cash plans, group risk and protection products and general health and wellbeing matters including occupational health services and employee assistance programmes.

AMII promotes and maintains high standards of professional and ethical conduct among its members to inspire the confidence of the consumer, no matter whether they be individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises or corporate buyers of health, wellbeing and risk services.
