A communications, global political risk and public policy expert has been announced as the first keynote speaker at the Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries (AMII) Health and Wellbeing Summit 2020.

Iain Anderson, Executive Chairman at Cicero/AMO, will open the Summit – which will be held online for the first time in its history – with an expert overview of the current political and economic environment, both in the UK and across the world.

He will give particular focus on the economic and political impact of Covid-19 and what it will mean for the UK's financial services and healthcare sectors. Iain will touch on the result of the US Presidential Election and how it could impact on any US/UK trade deal, and will also offer his thoughts on the likely outcome of the Brexit negotiations with the EU, including impacts on the insurance sector.

In his role at Cicero/AMO, Iain specialises in public policy and corporate communications strategy, supporting several global FTSE and Fortune 500 blue chip organisations, and provides CEO and board-level counsel.

He also regularly contributes to national and international print and broadcast media including Sky News and BBC and is contributing Political Editor of Square Mile.

AMII’s prestigious healthcare event will take place on Wednesday November 18, and for the first time will be held virtually. The 90-minute Virtual Summit will feature three keynote speakers, details for which will be announced in due course. Registrations are being taken via EventBrite here.

Stuart Scullion, AMII Executive Chairman of AMII, which represents around 140 medical insurers, intermediaries and providers, said: “The year of 2020 has presented us with multiple challenges as a result of Covid-19 – however we are delighted to still have the opportunity to hold our Summit virtually as our industry continues to adapt to best suit clients and customers.

“As a well-renowned political commentator and communications expert, we’re very excited to have Iain on board as one of our three keynote speakers. His insight and knowledge, in a year which has seen the world jump between constant communications and political issues, will be invaluable as we head towards 2021.”

The Health and Wellbeing Summit is an annual flagship event hosted by AMII, offering Association members and other intermediaries, insurers and providers shared industry learning, business development, and networking opportunities alongside leading experts.

The event will start at 2.30pm and is free to attend for all specialist healthcare insurance intermediaries.
