A Scottish private healthcare provider has become the latest member of The Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries (AMII).
Glasgow-based Solutions Healthcare has commended AMII’s “outstanding professionalism and market views” after announcing its membership of the PMI body, which has continued to provide a ‘stable and measured voice’ for the industry throughout the Coronavirus pandemic.
Solutions Healthcare was established by brokers Alan Christie and Evelyn Forsyth following the sale of Chartered Life and dates back to 1993. The firm offers all protection products. It is the latest member firm to join AMII, which represents approximately 140 intermediaries, insurers and providers across the health and wellbeing sector.
Solutions Healthcare caters for the health needs of both individuals and businesses, with Managing Director, Alan Christie, citing an increase in credibility as among its reasons for joining AMII.
Alan said: “Being associated with AMII and their own outstanding professionalism and market views brings credibility to any healthcare broker.
“At Solutions Healthcare we are delighted to have been accepted as one of their members.
“We operate in the same market as our previous business, Chartered Life, but with national coverage, offering all forms of protection products. Our experience of private healthcare has been gained over many years – we have seen many different trends over time and in particular more recently, customer engagement in their own health and wellbeing.”
AMII membership benefits include participation at national conferences, technical regulatory compliance support, parliamentary and regulatory lobbying, Preferential Professional Indemnity Insurance cover, online technical advice and professional support, an education events programme and opportunities to network with industry colleagues.
During the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown period in the UK, AMII has also provided and issued regular guidance for its members. It has taken steps to support insurers and intermediaries through the crisis, including co-hosting a series of virtual seminars with industry experts.
Alan also shared his views on how the PMI industry will be shaped as the world continues to recover from the Coronavirus crisis.
He said: “Looking forward, I think private healthcare will see more new people and businesses taking up policies, simply because of what we have seen over the last few months.
“Unfortunately, intense strain has been placed on our wonderful NHS. We all know that PMI supports the NHS and does not replace it, and I hope that healthcare continues to return to some resonance of normality in the near future.”
Stuart Scullion, AMII Chairman, said: “We’re delighted to have Solutions Healthcare on board as our newest member. As a prestigious organisation with a customer-centric ethos and a fantastic history, Solutions Healthcare have joined at a great time.
“Throughout the Coronavirus pandemic we have proudly supported our members with the latest industry advice and opinion and have been delighted to act as the sector’s voice against the backdrop of adversity.
“I truly believe that the industry has really stepped up to the plate during the pandemic, and Solutions Healthcare joining us now serves to further demonstrate the industry’s strength as a collective.”
